Stine Racing hits the track Feb. 7 in Daytona
2008 ARCA Rookie of the Year Matt Carterwill again pilot the Clement Racing #46
Adel , IA - January, 22 2009
Fresh from accepting the trophy as the 2008 ARCA Series Sun Trust Rookie of the Year, Matt Carter will again take the wheel of the Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion on Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at the Daytona International Speedway. The race will be broadcast live on the SPEED Channel, preceding the Budweiser Shoot-Out.
"We at Stine are very happy to be on-board with Clement Racing for Daytona," says David Thompson, National Sales and Marketing Director for Stine Seed Company. "With the introduction of our new LibertyLink soybeans, 2009 is sure to be an exciting year for Stine Seed and our customers. What better way to kick off a great year than with an exciting race at one of the most storied tracks in racing history."
For Carter, the return to Daytona means a return to the track of his childhood dreams.
"Growing up in racing, the Daytona 500 is the biggest race of the year," he says. "Last year it was great to be able to drive around the track, going as fast as you can, of course, and when you look in the rearview mirror it looks just huge. Then, all of the sudden, there’s a great big wall of asphalt in front of you that you have to drive around and its rough and bumpy…it’s an experience you can’t explain – you just have to drive it. I’m really looking forward to racing there again."
Last year Carter ran as high as second at Daytona before sustaining damage. He still managed to finish 13th in his first-ever superspeedway race.
At the ARCA Awards banquet in December, Carter was named the ARCA Series SunTrust Rookie of the year, racking up one win, eight top-five wins, 14 top-10 wins and the most laps of any driver during the season.
"Matt did an outstanding job last year, and despite a damaged car, came home with a decent finish," said team owner Larry Clement. "With a year’s experience under his belt, along with Brad and Travis leading the effort, we should be very competitive. We know the competition will be better than ever so we have to give it our best shot."
NASCAR veteran crew chief Brad Parrott has joined the Clement Racing #46 team and Travis Carter returns to lead the team.
