Stine Seed Company: Proud Midwest roots with an expanding national footprint

Stine Seed Company is unique for many reasons, one being that it was founded by a farmer and, as a privately owned seed company, is still a family-run business today. For more than five decades, company founder Harry Stine has employed his farming background, innovative nature and passion for improving production agriculture to develop the highest yielding corn and soybean genetics in the United States. The company started as a small 160-acre farm owned and operated by his grandparents in the late 1800s and evolved into Stine Seed Farms in the 1950s and ultimately Stine Seed Company.

Stine® now has a reach well outside the Midwest — we’re a national brand with a Midwest heart. Learn about the new territories we’re reaching as the Stine sales footprint expands across the country.

    Southwest
While we’ve had a presence in the southern Corn Belt and into the Delta South for some years now, we’ve recently expanded our product offerings to fit the maturity and geographic needs of Texas, Oklahoma and parts of New Mexico. Growers in the Southwest can benefit from longer-season Stine products such as 114- to 118-day corn and soybeans that range up to a 5.8 maturity. We have also hired several sales reps to better serve grower customers in these regions and continue to hire additional sales reps to support boots on the ground. In fact, we currently have a position open in Texas for an independent sales rep to cover the Victoria, Wharton, El Campo and Houston areas. We also have an opening for a sales rep in northeast Oklahoma to cover Mayes, Ottawa, Craig, Delaware, Adair, Wagoner, Osage, Washington, Rogers and Tulsa counties.

    Florida
Florida was once home only to our winter nurseries. But now we have different maturity options in our corn and soybean lineup that fit Florida’s wet, sandy soils. We are excited to expand our seed sales footprint in the Sunshine State—from corn products that range from 116+ days relative maturity to soybean varieties in the late Group 5 maturity. Currently, we are looking for an independent sales rep in central Florida whose territory will include Alachua, Putnam, Lake, Bradford, Union and Columbia counties.

    East Coast
From upper New York and the Delmarva region to Georgia and the Carolinas, we have the biggest presence that we’ve ever had up and down the East Coast. Our differentiators for this region? The ability to supply growers with better options that best match their soil type and growing conditions, and our sales team in the region who are dedicated to ensuring customers are getting the best products and expert crop management advice year-round. As we expand our presence on the East Coast, we’re in the market for a regional sales agronomist who will focus their efforts on supporting our sales team on the ground in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina.

We are excited to branch out into even more new territories in 2022. To find out if Stine corn or soybeans are available in your region, connect with a Stine rep near you.

It’s that time of year again! While we make sure the turkey is properly thawed and brined in preparation for a meal that requires some of us — maybe even most of us — to loosen our belts and take a quick afternoon nap, there’s another constant this time of year. Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and gratitude; a time for everyone to say thanks and be thanked. Blessings are abounding every year at Stine, and we have our customers, employees and sales team members to thank for the company we are today. Thank you one and all for your commitment to Stine and, most importantly, for doing your part to feed and fuel the world. A few of our team members have also graciously shared what they are most thankful for this year.

“I am thankful for many things but most importantly for my family, our health and the opportunity to work for a family-owned company that is at the forefront of its industry with a thriving culture.” — Ben Grinnell, director of sales, eastern division

“Surely being thankful is good. I am thankful for coworkers, steady leadership and all the opportunities I’ve had over the last 27 years while being employed at Stine Biotechnology. The ultimate gift I’m thankful for is the Gospel.” — Bruce Held, project leader, Stine Biotechnology

“I am thankful for a healthy family, friends and a career that is challenging and rewarding.” — Tom Larson, corn technical agronomist

“This year, I not only give thanks for the blessings of a wonderful family, friends and career, but for those things that were difficult to overcome, and the things that I had to work hard for as those are the things that have made me a better person.” — Truddy Tucker, agile portfolio manager and coach

“I am thankful for the opportunities to help farmers and play a role in feeding the world. While not always at the moment, I am thankful for the challenging circumstances at work and home because struggling and overcoming the challenges helps me become a better person and builds character.” — Chad Johnson, vice president, general counsel

“I’m thankful for several things: 1) Family. I’m lucky that we are a close-knit family; 2) Country and state: I’m thankful that I live in a free country where we can disagree but live and let live. I’m lucky enough to have been born in Texas, ’nuff said; 3) I’m thankful to work for a company that values what I do and allows me the opportunity to build a future for my family; 4) I’m thankful for a God that made all the rest possible.” — W. Todd Oliver, Region 27 RSA

“There’s so much to be thankful for each year that it’s hard to put into words. What I can say is that all of the blessings that have been bestowed upon myself and Stine, both big and small, can be directly attributed to our families at home, in the office and out in the field. From our families to our employees, sales team members and grower customers, we owe it all to you! Thank you, and happy Thanksgiving!  — Myron Stine, president

Stine Marketing and Sales Director David Thompson is the official host of the Stine Seedcast, where he sits down with company leaders and grower customers, agronomists, business partners and special guests from around the country to get their take on what’s new and happening around the country in production agriculture. Tune in wherever podcasts are available to hear from David as he chats with Stine growers on their preferred field practices, agronomists on timely agronomic advice and ag industry experts on research, equipment and more.

Episode 1 dropped on Tuesday and is available for immediate listening. In this episode, Stine President Myron Stine kicks off his Yield+ Corn Tour in southwest Minnesota, where he visits with grower customer Ryan Christopherson. Ryan shares his best practices to achieving consistent high yields with narrow-row, high-population corn.
