Bringing new generations of high-yielding soybeans to market is a critical process for Stine® Seed Company — a step that ensures we deliver only the very best to growers’ fields each year. Stine EK-series soybeans are no exception.
“Stine EK-series soybeans are the ninth generation of Enlist E3® soybeans that are on the market,” says Tyler DuBay, soybean technical agronomist for Stine. “These products started when we crossed them in 2020–2021. The germplasm keeps getting stronger and continues to prove itself year after year.”
The EK-series brands in our 2027 lineup emphasize versatility and standability while keeping yield at the forefront.
“In 2025, we collected a lot of datapoints regarding plant growth and environmental factors. This allowed us to distinguish which brands stand and yield while implementing more technology to increase our knowledge of disease tolerance in our genetics,” says DuBay. “This research helps us determine which brands move forward and where these brands need to be placed.”
DuBay notes that many EK-series brands are also progeny of older brands still in the current lineup.
For example, Stine 15EE32 is the parent of numerous later RM1 brands. Stine 18EK32 and 19EK02 are extremely high-yielding soybeans but bring more advantages than their parents when it comes to Sclerotinia white mold tolerance (SWM) and standability. Stine 28M32, which is a conventional line, is the parent of many of the brands in the late 2 to mid-3 maturity range, where we have seen improvements in agronomics and yield.
“The Stine system is cycling through and really showing how strong our genetics are and will continue to be, especially when it comes to the next generation of Enlist E3 and other traits that are on the horizon.”

Stine EK-series lines to watch
- Stine 09EK21 (available only in Canada): DuBay notes this 09-maturity soybean looks tremendous and is specifically selected to be successful in Ontario’s heavy clay soils with little to no topsoil. It has great season-long plant appearance and is consistent throughout — a solid option for early planting at moderate to lower populations for best standability.
- Stine 05EK12: An earlier maturity line (05), this versatile soybean has strong tolerance to SWM. It is a solid salt excluder, which really makes it stand out on high soluble salt soils. It does extremely well in the Red River Valley and throughout the northern region. 05EK12 works well in narrow-row, high-population environments; however, when planting into poorly drained soils, growers should apply a seed treatment and monitor carbonate levels for iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) risk.
- Stine 11EK39: DuBay says this 11-maturity line is proving to be a strong-yielding early option with Peking soybean cyst nematode (SCN) resistance. It offers good tolerance to soybean sudden death syndrome (SDS) and SWM and is performing well against IDC in the northern U.S. and Canadian territories. Its height and standability make it a reliable choice for growers, with desirable characteristics for variable soil types in high-population environments.
- Stine 19EK02: This 19-maturity line is performing well and really shines in highly productive soils in narrow-row, high-population environments, which allows the plant to get as many nodes as possible. While it is not as tall as some other soybeans, it is showing strong height potential in productive soils with adequate rainfall and is currently holding up against SWM. Its sister line, 18EK32, is also performing exceptionally well and has similar characteristics, though it is slightly taller.
- Stine 36EK32: A known progeny of the legendary 36EE12, Stine 36EK32 brand (a 36-maturity line) is a well-rounded soybean that is highly versatile across soil types and regions. It should be planted in narrow-row, high-population environments and can be placed in poorly drained soils thanks to its 1k Phytophthora gene. DuBay notes that red crown rot (RCR) is starting to rear its head in Illinois specifically, and in our single-row trials, 36EK32 is holding it off more than others. Its parent, 36EE12, showed tolerance to RCR as well, and it seems to have passed that genetic trait through its lineage. 36EK32 also features brown stem rot resistance, strong tolerance to SDS and STS tolerance, making it a solid candidate for early planting.
Following a promising start, DuBay looks forward to seeing how 36EK32 finishes the season, especially as he’s seeing a lot of pods being set on the plants. “I think it is going to have a big year,” he adds.
“We’re excited to offer 25 EK-series lines to growers’ fields in 2027. But on top of that, we’re also bringing Stine customers knowledge and references on where products will be successful — providing additional confidence that moving to the next generation of Enlist E3 will be even better performing than the next. That’s why people buy into the Stine system.”
