Strong yields, strong confidence: What this year’s PDP corn trends mean for you

October 2025

As harvest results come in from across the country, we’re seeing more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. We’re seeing stories of performance, consistency and opportunity. Here’s what the latest Product Development Plots (PDP) corn trends are telling us and why it matters for your farm.

To date, 11 of the 25 full-season PDP plots have been harvested, providing valuable early insights into hybrid placement as additional results are reported nationwide.

Regional strengths you can count on

Yields from our PDP locations highlight where genetics are shining:

  • Maryville, Missouri, and Garland City, Arkansas, stood out with average yields above 220 bushels per acre, which is a clear sign of how our products are performing across regions.

“When you look at places like Missouri and Arkansas topping 220 bushels, it reinforces that our genetics can excel and set the pace of hybrids within a region,” says Myron Stine, president of Stine® Seed Company. “The key is pairing the right product with the right acre.”

Consistency across environments

Numbers mean the most when they’re consistent. Hybrids like 9753-20 are showing strong performance across multiple locations, proving that our lineup isn’t just about isolated wins. It’s about reliable consistency across diverse soils and climates, which is exactly what you need when planning next year’s crop.

“One of the most encouraging signs is seeing certain hybrids perform not just in one location but across multiple geographies,” Stine adds. “That consistency drives confidence when growers are planning for the unknowns of next season.”

Hybrids outpacing the trend

The data doesn’t just show strong performance. It also shows advancement. Several of our entries are not only meeting expectations but are also beating the trend line across sites. For growers, that means genetics that aren’t standing still; they’re moving ahead, delivering a measurable edge year after year.

“Within the company, we drive genetics, yield and standability,” Stine says. “We will stay ahead of it. The data shows our hybrids can move with the best, and you don’t need a ton of traits to do it either. They’re outperforming expectations and setting new benchmarks for yield potential.”

Balanced performance at harvest

Strong yields mean more when paired with the right harvest characteristics. Many of these top performers are delivering high yields without excessive moisture, helping reduce drying costs and making harvest smoother.

“High yields don’t mean much if you’re paying for it in drying costs,” Stine notes. “We’re seeing products that combine strong performance with great late-season plant health with standability, and that’s a win for growers at the end of the day.”

What it means for you

For farmers, these results are more than just charts and numbers. They point to:

  • Confidence that our genetics deliver in top-yielding regions
  • Reliability across different soils and geographies
  • Efficiency at harvest with manageable moisture levels

At Stine, our goal is simple: to give you hybrids that work as hard as you do. This year’s PDP trends show we’re on the right path, and we’re just getting started.
